AI Skills for Small Business: Build Your Standing Assistant

You have learned to write a good prompt. Then tomorrow you write it again. And the day after. Every session starts from zero: the AI forgets your business, your prices, your tone, your rules, and you spend the first ten minutes of every conversation re-explaining things you have explained fifty times.

A skill fixes that. A skill is a structured instruction file you install into your AI assistant once: it carries your business context, your working rules, and your output formats, so every future conversation starts warm. Think of the difference between hiring a freelancer for one task and having an employee who already knows how you work. This course teaches you to use, customize, and build them.

It is a hands-on course. You will install a real skill from the Vexlo toolbox (there are 20 free ones, from a finance analyst to a proposal writer), teach it your business in one setup interview, bend it to your voice and rules, and then build a custom skill for a job in your own business, using the same five-part template every Vexlo skill uses.

Across three chapters, you will learn:

• What a skill actually is, how it differs from a prompt and from expensive custom AI, and when each one earns its keep
• The anatomy of a skill file: Role, Setup, Capabilities, Rules, and Output format, and why each section exists
• How to install a skill in Claude or ChatGPT in under five minutes, and how to run the setup interview so it sticks
• How to customize someone else's skill safely: changing tone, adding rules, and keeping your private data out of it
• How to pick the right job in your business for a custom skill, write one section by section, and test it before you trust it

By the end, you will have at least one working skill installed and one you built yourself, plus a maintenance habit that keeps them accurate as your business changes. No code, no subscriptions beyond the AI assistant you already pay for.

Each chapter ends with a short quiz. Budget about 100 minutes for the whole course, or take it one coffee break at a time.
