Claude Pricing in Canada (2026): What Free, Pro, Max and Team Cost a Small Business
Claude pricing in Canada, in real CAD: what Pro, Max, Ultra and Team seats cost a small business, what Free already covers, and why the web beats the app.
Search for what Claude costs and the first page says $20. Anthropic's own pricing page says it too, with no currency label, and so does nearly every article written about it. Those are American numbers.
Sign in from Canada and open the upgrade screen, and the same plan reads C$28 a month, plus tax. That's the page that bills you, and it's the one this guide is built on. Claude pricing in Canada is a short list once you have it: four personal plans, two kinds of Team seat, and one trap in the iPhone app that costs C$40 a month on the plan heavy users tend to pick.
Below: every price in Canadian dollars as read on November 2, 2026, what the free plan already covers for a small business, the math for one owner and for a team of three, and an honest note on how fast these numbers move.
What Claude pricing in Canada looks like on the page that bills you
These are the figures on the signed-in upgrade page for a Canadian account. Tax is added at checkout.
- Free: $0. Limited usage every five hours and every week.
- Pro: C$28 a month billed monthly, or C$280 a year billed annually (about C$23 a month).
- Max: C$140 a month, monthly billing only. Five times Pro's usage, every five hours and every week.
- Ultra: C$280 a month, monthly only. Ten times Pro's weekly usage, and no five-hour limit for verified accounts.
- Team, standard seat: C$28 per person a month on annual billing, C$35 billed monthly. Two seats minimum, 150 maximum.
- Team, premium seat: C$140 on annual billing, C$175 monthly, with five times a standard seat's usage. Seat types can be mixed.
- Enterprise: US$20 a seat a month billed annually, plus usage billed at API rates, with a 20-seat minimum. Out of range for most shops under 50 people.
Two things are worth knowing about those numbers. Anthropic prices the Canadian plans at a flat 1.40 times the US figure (US$20 becomes C$28, US$100 becomes C$140), and the Bank of Canada's rate on October 30 was 1.396, so there's no hidden markup in the conversion. And because the charge is in Canadian dollars, your card's foreign-transaction fee doesn't apply, which it would on a US-dollar charge.
Tax is the part that moves by province. In Ontario, 13 percent HST takes Pro from C$28 to about C$31.64 a month, and the annual plan from C$280 to about C$316.
What the free plan already covers
Most owners we talk to assume the free tier is a demo. On Claude it's a working setup. The free plan includes chat on web, desktop and phone, web search, file creation, memory across conversations, connectors to Gmail, Google Drive and Microsoft 365, skills, and up to five Projects. The models are Sonnet and Haiku.
Five Projects is enough for one business: customer replies, quotes, marketing, the books, one spare. Each one holds its own instructions and files. Add a few free Claude skills for small business and you have the setup most paid-plan users run, at $0.
What Pro adds, for the C$28: more usage, the Opus model, Research for long multi-source reports, the ability to hand off and schedule tasks (the feature Anthropic calls Cowork), Claude Code, Claude in Chrome and inside Microsoft 365, and Projects without the cap of five. The newest model, Fable, is available on Pro through usage credits you buy separately. Our free lesson on Claude Free vs Pro for a business gives you the two signs you've outgrown Free.
The limit that matters on every plan is usage. Each plan meters work over a rolling five-hour window and a weekly one. A morning of heavy drafting on Free can end with a notice at 11 a.m. and a reset after lunch. That interruption, twice in one week, is the real price signal.
Don't subscribe inside the iPhone app
The Canadian App Store listing for Claude, read the same day, prices the in-app subscriptions like this: Pro monthly C$28.00, Pro annual C$299.99, Max monthly C$179.99, Ultra monthly C$349.99.
Set those beside the web prices. Pro monthly is the same. Pro annual costs C$20 more a year in the app. Max costs C$40 more every month, and Ultra C$70 more. Same plan, same account, same usage limits.
So subscribe in a browser at claude.ai, then sign in on the phone. The app works the same either way. Google Play lists in-app purchases for the Android app without printing the prices on the listing page, so if you're on Android, read the checkout screen before you tap. Apple and Google take a cut of in-app subscriptions, and Anthropic has priced that cut into the app rather than absorbing it. Common practice, and still C$480 a year to a Max user.
The math for one owner and a team of three
Say you run the business alone. Free costs nothing. Pro on monthly billing is C$336 a year before tax; on annual billing, C$280. The C$56 difference is the price of being able to cancel next month, and for the first few months that flexibility is worth it. Switch to annual once you've hit the usage limit twice in a week and know the tool has become part of how work gets done.
Now say there are three of you: you, an office manager and an estimator. Three Pro accounts on monthly billing come to C$84 a month. Three standard Team seats come to C$105 monthly or C$84 on annual billing. So Team on an annual commitment costs the same as three monthly Pro accounts, and it buys you one bill, shared Projects, admin control over which connectors each person can use, and no model training on your content by default. For a business that puts customer details into Claude every day, that last line decides it. The Team lesson walks through the switch.
Max at C$140 and Ultra at C$280 are for one kind of person: whoever runs Cowork or Claude Code for hours a day and keeps hitting the ceiling. On a team, a single premium seat at C$140 does the same job for that one person while the rest stay on standard seats. Buying Max for an owner who sends twenty messages a day is C$1,344 a year for headroom that goes unused.
Which plan, for which business
Our opinion, for a shop under 50 people:
- Alone, starting out: Free for two weeks with your real work, then Pro on monthly billing. Decide on annual after the first bill.
- Two or more people, customer information in the prompts: Team standard seats on annual billing. The price matches monthly Pro and the data terms are better.
- One person who lives in it all day: a premium Team seat for them, or Max if they work alone. Ultra only if the five-hour limit is stopping paid work.
- Anyone considering Enterprise: ask what a 20-seat minimum does to the math first. Audit logs and custom data retention are real, and most businesses this size won't be asked for them.
Whichever plan you land on, the setup is the same, and it's where the value sits. The free Claude for Small Business course walks through it in about two and a half hours, from the privacy switch to a Project for each part of the business.
Where this breaks
Prices move. In the five weeks before this was written, Anthropic changed Pro's annual price, added the Ultra tier, and put Fable on Pro through credits. The figures above were read on November 2, 2026, from the signed-in upgrade page and the Canadian App Store. Check both on the day you buy.
The 1.40 multiple is Anthropic's choice, not a live exchange rate. If the Canadian dollar strengthens, the CAD prices won't follow until Anthropic changes them.
Tax varies by province, and the examples above use Ontario's 13 percent. The subscription is also the small part of the bill. The hours you spend setting Claude up and checking its output are the larger part, and what AI costs a small business adds those up.
If Claude would be the third or fourth AI subscription on the company card, run the inventory of every AI charge with its renewal date first, then the keep, cancel or renegotiate verdict on each tool. Most businesses we look at are paying for two tools that do the same job.
