The problem
Grant money for small businesses exists, but finding it is a part-time job nobody has. Program pages are written in government prose, eligibility rules hide in PDFs, and half the lists floating around online are outdated or wrong. Worse, asking a bare AI chat "what grants can I get?" produces confident nonsense: program names that sound plausible and deadlines that were never real. Chasing one of those costs you an afternoon and some faith.
The tool
Once installed, this skill turns your AI assistant into a grant research analyst with one unbreakable rule: it never invents a program. It works from official program pages you paste in or link to, and everything it tells you traces back to text on those pages. You bring the raw material (a government directory listing, a program page, an application form); it does the tedious part.
Before: forty browser tabs of government prose and no idea which programs are worth your time. After: each program you feed it comes back as a plain-English profile (what it funds, who qualifies, what it pays, key dates as stated on the page), a shortlist ranked by how well your business fits, an eligibility checklist you can walk through in ten minutes, and draft answers to the real application questions, written from your business facts. Every output carries the same caution: verify eligibility and deadlines on the official page before you spend an hour applying, because programs change and pages go stale.

How to use it

- 6Before submitting anything, open the official page yourself and confirm eligibility and the deadline.
Example
Say you run a 12-person food manufacturer in Nova Scotia. You paste in three program pages you found through official directories. Output (condensed): "Shortlist: Program A ranks first: the page states it funds equipment for food processors of your size in your province, and you meet 6 of 7 listed criteria. The seventh (two years of financial statements) needs checking with your accountant. Program B is a weaker fit: its page limits applicants to exporters, which you are not yet. Program C's page shows an intake window that may have closed; the page I saw gave a spring date without a year. Eligibility checklist for Program A follows. Pro tip
Paste the application's actual questions, not only the program overview page. Draft answers written against the real questions, in the program's own vocabulary, are where this skill saves you the most time, and it will flag any question it cannot answer from your setup facts instead of padding.
